Sports drinks and their sugar content
For those of us that play competitive sports, or who have children who do the same, think twice before you decide how you keep yourselves hydrated. A lot of sports drinks on the market have extremely high sugar content, rivaling that of soda pop. Most of us are already aware that pop should be consumed in moderation, given the high sugar levels and potential to wreak havoc on your teeth. But the same approach should also be taken with sports drinks, as they can be just as damaging for your oral health. Although they may impart an advantage to your performance levels, make sure you’re also aware of their potential risks.
I suggest reading the nutritional labels of all beverages you’re either consuming or giving to your kids. Then you can make an informed decision as to what’s best for you and your family.
